Erin Wiese Participates in Creative Writing Program

2014 Feb 3

Erin Wiese, a senior english education major from Covington, GA, is a member of the editorial staff of The Cumberland River Review, produced by the Department of English at Trevecca Nazarene University. The Cumberland River Review, now in its third year, is a national literary journal produced by Trevecca students under the guidance of Graham Hillard, editor and associate professor of English at Trevecca. This journal accepts submissions from national or international writers at any point in their careers. Featured writers have been graduate students and writers who teach graduate students. In addition to giving at least one writer his first publication ever, the Cumberland River Review has also published work by a National Book Critics Circle Award winner, a state poet laureate, and a winner of the prestigious Yale Series of Younger Poets Award. The latest edition of the publication was released on January 15, 2014, and is available online at http://crr.trevecca.edu/.

As a member of the editorial staff, Erin reads, comments upon, and votes on the hundreds of submissions sent for consideration four times a year. In addition to his/her classes in creative writing, participating in this editorial work gives Erin valuable experience in reading and assessing the writing of other experienced writers and in learning about publishing.

Trevecca's Creative Writing Program is one of its 86 baccalaureate programs for undergraduate students. Graduates of this program are now enrolled in graduate programs in writing, winning awards for their poetry and fiction, and having their writings published. For more information about the Trevecca Creative Writing Program, contact Graham Hillard at ghillard@trevecca.edu.
